In this week’s Baseball Notes we break down which teams did the best and worst jobs with their offseason acquisitions and how they impacted the first quarter of the baseball season. The Cleveland Indians did the best job and the Toronto Blue Jays the worst job, though at one time the Blue Jays were the talk of baseball for their bold move in dealing for Miami Marlins stars. We get into top jobs done by the Yankees and Red Sox, and also the failures so far of the Angels and Dodgers. We also write on Red Sox assistant hitting coach Victor Rodriguez and his story of how he became a replacement player in 1995, as well as assorted notes from around the league, including an update on former Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon’s status with the Phillies.
